Characters, Cars, Canines, and Carbs: A Pictorial

Published by Miss Prissy on November 27th, 2011 - in Out & About
Some of the greatest things about living on this crazy island are the amazing characters.  Specifically, I love living in an area where I can see Mr. James Chapman all over town.  He’s a conch, though what generation I have no idea.  I do know that his grandfather bought the family homestead at 221 Petronia in 1872 for $350.

There is more than one lighted disco bike at the family home;  Mr. Chapman has been teaching the art of making folks happy to his grandson.  And makes folks happy, he does.

Locals, tourists, whatever…peoples’ faces light up up when they hear “Super Freak”, assorted oldies, and tunes by Earth Wind & Fire.

Vino’s on Duval

Meet the fabulous Clayton and his beautiful and equally fabulous wife Val, owners of “Vino’s on Duval”.

Prior to Vino’s opening in September 2010, Clayton wrote a most interesting blog about the trials and tribulations of opening a new business in the city of Key West.

Hurricane Irene Local Fundraisers

While normally Prissy enjoys the “eat, drink, and be merry” concept…she also is a firm believer in charity.  I believe we all have an obligation to pay it forward for the good of the planet (whether it be land, animal, or human).  In addition, the “paying” part needn’t be in currency…paying can be in needed items or grunt work for a cause…it all matters.

Stiletto Society Meetings at “Vino’s on Duval”

Published by Miss Prissy on May 25th, 2011 - in Out & About

So, do you know Key West has a Stiletto Night?  Yes, it does!  Island Shoe Girl herself (Stephanie Kaple), and Val & Clayton from Vino’s on Duval, got together to create a most awesome event and Prissy could not be more pleased! I’m a huge fan of “the heels” and love that there are so many like-minded women on this little island.  The last Wednesday of every month, a group of women get together at Vino’s who…are you ready for this?  Wear AMAZING shoes (NOT flip flops, thank you very much), dress up, talk about our careers, families, pets, and compliment each other…you know, female bonding.
