Published by Miss Prissy on February 13th, 2014 - in Out & About
NAPVAC (2) So I guess I need to make yet another apology because I suck.  It’s true.Between my full-time job, our full-time household, and our more than full-time social life, I have little time to blog. However, between just après Christmas and now, I carved out some time.

Love, Gloss, and 40-Something No More: Prissy on AARP and The Summer of Fabulousity

Published by Miss Prissy on October 16th, 2013 - in Out & About
Well, hello everyone!  I realize I haven’t been around in blogger land a whole lot and I know I’m always saying I’m busy.  First wedding madness, then honeymoon (I swear, I really AM going to finish blogging the Napa & Sonoma wineries—esp since I promised sister redhead and good friend Pay-am that I would), then just wow!  What a wild ride these past nine months have been. No, I haven’t been pregnant (ugh, definitely not).

Aside from pregnant, there is another thing I’m not…40-something.  That ship sailed amidst water, romance, great friends, disco balls, and CAKE.  I came into the AARP generation like a lioness and what a blast!  Seriously, I do apologize for being a neglectful blogger.  Though I know some of my readers and most of you don’t let any grass grow under your feet, either.  Besides, haven’t we all been watching every season of “Breaking Bad”?  I guess that was just us 🙂

Lunch at Hot Tin Roof? It’s about time! :)

Published by Miss Prissy on August 13th, 2013 - in Out & About
HTR16 So I was contacted by Ocean Key House’s marketing group because they wanted local bloggers to be among the first to try Hot Tin Roof’s new lunch menu.  You see, they used to only serve breakfast and dinner and this news was an answer to my gastro prayers!  As you all know, The Handsome Captain™ and I are no strangers to Hot Tin Roof.

From Grand Central To “Taste of Key West”: The New York Minute Version

Published by Miss Prissy on May 3rd, 2013 - in Out & About
Taken from Urban Dictionary (no, this is not my usual source of reference), ” A New York Minute is an instant. Or as Johnny Carson once said, it’s the interval between a Manhattan traffic light turning green and the guy behind you honking his horn”.  So for people who know me IRL, they know I don’t say anything quickly.  I once told a co-worker that I don’t tell short stories because I CAN’T tell short stories.  However, some things are short and sweet and don’t end well 🙂

So last Sunday, I was in Manhattan with my best friend (who lives in Westchester) where we enjoyed brunch (can you say endless sangria?), our trek to a wine bar, and ultimately to Grand Central where we would be hopping the Metro North back to Greystone.  Except Laura Ann had a surprise for me on the way to our train.

NAS Key West Southernmost Air Spectacular

Published by Miss Prissy on April 4th, 2013 - in Out & About
photo-19 So obviously I’ve known for quite a while that the Blue Angels (also known simply as “The Blues”) were coming back to NAS (Naval Air Station).  I was beyond thrilled because I was a few months shy of moving here when they last performed and never before saw them.  The Blue Angels is the flight demonstration squadron for the US Navy and travel across the country.  However, with Pentagon spending cuts, The Blues canceled most of their shows in April and May (so far).  NAS and The Keys were spared from cancellation and we were grateful.

A couple months ago at my Rotary meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing about The Blues from NAS Captain Commanding Officer Patrick “Sparky” LaFere.  Let’s just say my excitement was building.  He went on to say that there would be a tribute to  aerobatic pilot Freddy Cabanas, who died suddenly this year flying over Cozumel. 🙁

Since the company for which I work was a sponsor, The Handsome Captain™ and I enjoyed a couple VIP passes.  After seeing the crowd, I’m not ashamed to say I was TRES thankful for those passes.
