Prissy and The Handsome Captain™ (and likely the rest of the entourage) are recovering from The Key West Food & Wine Festival. Running from January 24 – January 27, let’s just say it was a relief to get back to my office this morning.
Four days of food, wine, good company, and lots of laughs.
Priss is still weeding through images, yet still…she thinks it’s only fair to give you all a sneak peak
Just to whet your appetite for things to come…
The festivities officially opened with the “Kick Off Your Flip Flops Barefoot Beach Party”.
Local personality Steve Calderwood, who writes an article for KONK LIFE (one of our weekly publications), can always be found at Key West wine events.
Speaking of local personalities…check out QMitch from 801 Bourbon Bar’s Drag Queen Bingo. I have been behind Mitch in line at Publix as he’s purchased “props” for his Sunday show…the cleaner props
It was on to the Neighborhood Stroll portion of the night.
I enjoyed a really nice pour from this beautiful young woman in the courtyard of “Better Than Sex: A Dessert Restaurant“. Why was I ending the evening there? You’ll have to keep up with this blog to find out.
So the next event on our agenda was Friday evening’s”Bottles & Busts Grand Tasting” at Mallory Square’s Historic Sculpture Garden.
Enjoying the evening with good friend and one of the Event Directors, Mark Certonio of Lush Bar. My glass was empty but not for long.
Later that night would be the “Let Them EAT Cake French Masquerade Party” where good times were definitely had by all. I have to say, The Handsome Captain™ and I definitely rocked it in the costume department. However, that will have to wait until I get to the Friday evening installment in it’s entirety and not just this little teaser
Saturday came with a red hot vengeance (and a headache that wouldn’t quite drop a moose, but close) and it was time for Steve Calderwood (remember the dude above in black & white?) and his seminar “The Blind Leading the Blind Cabernet Tasting”. You’ll have to wait and read the whole story to learn what I thought this meant. Anyway…
It was onward and upward to Duval Uncorked to meet up with friends, old and new.
Meet my other little friend: The Painkiller at Rum Bar…because not every single libation was wine.
Down the street a few steps were friends Jeremy W. and Sean McConnell, proprietor of Grand Vin.
Long-time friends (and soon-to-be “neighbors”), Ann & Mike enjoying some vino and vittles from Le Petit Paris. Wait until you see what they served in an upcoming blog post
One of our many Duval Uncorked stops was a visit to Vino’s on Duval and the ever adorable co-owner/good friend, Valerie Chelley.
Sunday morning came around and it was another “up and at ‘em” kinda morning. Albeit an overcast day for The Outdoor Wine Market, the teeny tiny sprinkles did not deter the hearty souls. The heartier went on to eat shrimp at the Seafood Shakedown. Fast forward to The Handsome Captain™ and his vote.
