Day 1:Key West Food & Wine Festival, Part 2

Published by Miss Prissy on January 30th, 2012 - in Out & About
So on to part deux of Thursday night!  We boarded the Old Town Trolley, one of the sponsors of “Wine Around Neighborhood Strolls” and let me tell you, I always have fun on that trolley.  Sharing transport with fellow jovial winos and foodies was as much fun this year as it was last year.

Albeit some thought we should have changed the venue, we so enjoyed the Bight Stroll that we did it again.  Who knows, maybe next year we’ll change it up but not 2012.

Stop #1 was Conch Republic Seafood Company.  Executive Chef David Fuhrman and Sous Chef Eric Whitten prepared bacon-wrapped scallops with pineapple chutney and Thai peanut sauce.  They were paired with a Pine Ridge, Chenin Blanc Viognier from California.

So “the day” that we’ve all been anticipating came yesterday.  All these months…all the waiting…all the timeline watching finally came to an end.  In fact, now the timeline is showing how many hours have passed since the event started.

Anyway, the food and wine lovers came and they came excited.

As usual, the events did not disappoint.

AND COUNTING!  So it could be a whole lot less by the time you see this, but I’m not going to re-post the timeline at this point.  However, should you become curious, feel free to click here.

Starting earlier today, ticketholders were allowed to pick up their passes at the Hospitality Suite at the Southernmost Hotel.  You may also pick up passes Wednesday and Thursday, 10am – 5pm.

Friends and media peeps who don’t already live here will start arriving tomorrow for a long weekend of all things food and wine…and we welcome them with open arms, raised forks, and clanking glasses.

Something that will be exciting for me and The Handsome Captain™ is watching our friends from Manhattan see this fest for the first time.  I want to hear from them and I want to hear from my readers.  What do you like?  What would you like to see improved?  What totally rocked the house for you?  I want to hear it all.
