I truly cannot believe it has taken us so long to check out Flaming Buoy! Seriously, we have heard mostly good things about this lovely little establishment and shame on us for not getting there until tonight.

So, do you know Key West has a Stiletto Night? Yes, it does! Island Shoe Girl herself (Stephanie Kaple), and Val & Clayton from Vino’s on Duval, got together to create a most awesome event and Prissy could not be more pleased! I’m a huge fan of “the heels” and love that there are so many like-minded women on this little island. The last Wednesday of every month, a group of women get together at Vino’s who…are you ready for this? Wear AMAZING shoes (NOT flip flops, thank you very much), dress up, talk about our careers, families, pets, and compliment each other…you know, female bonding.
After a long week at work, most locals with boats love hitting the sandbars. Nothing better than plonking your butt in the sand with a cold adult beverage and some fine cheese, Florida lobster, and stone crab claws. Heaven! Some days, we feel like getting a whole group together. Lots of laughs, noodles, floaties, and splashing.
One day a week, I have the time for a “somewhat” leisurely lunch with my handsome boyfriend. We try to patronize different places so last week’s choice was Banana Café (a French café at 1215 Duval Street). We’ve eaten breakfast there, but when my friends from NY visited last Sept, they kept raving about the French onion soup. The café was quite full with both locals and tourists and no outside tables were left (there aren’t many). That was fine with Greg as he needs the A/C a little more than I.
One of the things I really love in Key West (besides everything) is “Jazz in the Gardens” at The Gardens Hotel. Live musicians transcend upon this gorgeous venue every Sunday from 5pm – 8pm, bar none, I’m told…the only exception is rain.
