Annual Conch Republic Red Ribbon Bed Race

Published by Miss Prissy on April 30th, 2011 - in Out & About

This year was my first time at this fun event; they blocked the corners of Duval & Fleming and Duval & Olivia.  The various themed beds were all staged prior to the “Parade of Beds” on Petronia Street amidst “portable” bars on Bourbon Street Pub property.

Boat House Bar & Grill

We made a plan to have lunch there (underneath The Commodore, 700 Front Street) prior to the bed races. Up to that point, we had heard only good things so it was time we checked it out for ourselves.

Amidst the lunch choices of burgers, paninis, sandwiches, rolls, soups, and salads, we decided upon the small plates section.

So despite all the “What are we gonna do for Easter?”, “I dunno, what do you wanna do for Easter?”, “We could cook”, etc. Fact of the matter is, we didn’t get ourselves organized until 11am and had no groceries in the house. We had planned on going to “Jazz in the Gardens” later so we knew there was no time to go grocery shopping, come home, prepare a roast, eat, and go to “Jazz”. We decided upon brunch at Martin’s. One of the very best things about brunch? Mimosasssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Taste of Key West

Published by Miss Prissy on April 18th, 2011 - in Out & About

I know the handsome Gregory and I loved it. If anybody is here this time of year and consider taking part in this, buy your tickets beforehand. You get a little more for your money (extra tickets) AND you don’t have to wait in an obnoxiously long line to buy tix to enter. The tastes we enjoyed…

Mo’s Restaurant

Published by Miss Prissy on April 13th, 2011 - in Restaurant Reviews

Although I write a lot about fine dining, I also enjoy “joints”, “holes in the wall”, call them what you will. I enjoy places with flavorful, fresh food and not chain restaurants or places that have a lot of Sysco frozen food on their menus (esp. the stuff that goes straight into the deep fryer). That being said, I went to Mo’s today (1116 White Street). I had not been in over a year, despite the fact I kept saying “we need to get back to Mo’s”. Greg is tied up with the World Sailfish so I went to Mo’s alone and sat at the counter.
